Car remote key repair and replacement
Car remote not working or shell broken? Since 2012 the Keyok mechatronic key centre repairs the electronics or swaps the shell, keeping your own key.
Your remote no longer opens the car from a distance, a button is dead, the shell has cracked. Before buying a new key, bring it to us: in many cases it can be repaired.
We have been a mechatronic key centre since 2012. We offer two paths: electronic repair, or shell replacement with transfer of the board and the key. After the diagnosis we tell you which one you need, and whether repairing really makes sense.
Electronic repair
The shell is fine, but the remote doesn't work, or works intermittently.
Do you recognise your case
- One or more buttons don't respond
- The remote works only up close, or only sometimes
- The LED doesn't light up, or lights up but the car doesn't react
- Corroded contacts after humidity, water or sweat
- Broken solder joints after a drop
- Loose battery holder or battery not making contact
- Key not read by the car (chip/transponder to check)
What we do
- Diagnosis of the key before any work
- Cleaning and restoring corroded contacts
- Re-soldering the board
- Replacing buttons and microswitches
- Replacing the battery and repairing the battery holder
- Checking the chip/transponder; replacing it when needed
When it can't be repaired
A seriously damaged board (for example after prolonged immersion) or a chip that can't be reworked can't be repaired: in that case it is better to make a new key. We tell you after the diagnosis, before starting, and you decide.

Shell replacement
The electronics work, but the case is broken, worn, or the rubber buttons are worn out.
Do you recognise your case
- Cracked or split shell
- Worn or faded plastic, or case that opens by itself
- Worn rubber buttons with erased symbols
- Broken key ring loop
- Remote falling apart in your pocket
What we do
- Fitting a new shell suited to your model
- Transferring the electronic board into the new shell
- Transferring the mechanical blade when present
- Replacing worn buttons
- New battery, if needed, during the same job
When it can't be repaired
If there is no compatible shell for your model, we don't force one on: we look at an alternative with you. The right shell is checked with the remote in hand or from a photo.

What to bring
- The remote or key to repair, even if broken
- If you can, the other key of the car too
- Make, model and year of the car
- The vehicle registration document, if the key must be remade or programmed
- The broken shell with all its pieces: it helps identify the model
Makes and models
We work on keys for cars, motorbikes, scooters, trucks and vans. We don't publish lists of makes and models: call or write with make, model and year and we'll confirm whether we work on yours.
Frequently asked questions
My remote no longer opens the car from a distance: is it the battery?
Often, yes. If a new battery changes nothing, we check contacts, solder joints and the board. Bring it in and we'll diagnose it.
A button doesn't respond: can it be repaired?
Usually yes: worn buttons or corroded contacts can be replaced or restored without making a new key.
Do I need to reprogram the key after a shell change?
No, if the original board is moved into the new shell: electronics and code stay the same. If anything else is needed, we tell you beforehand.
When is it better to make a new key than to repair it?
When the board is seriously damaged or the chip can't be recovered. After the diagnosis we explain both options and you decide.
My key got wet or fell in water: what should I do?
Remove the battery, don't use it and bring it to us as soon as you can. The sooner we act, the better the chances.
The car doesn't recognise the key: is it the remote?
It may be the chip/transponder rather than the remote. The diagnosis tells them apart.
How much does it cost?
It depends on model and fault. Send us a photo of the remote on WhatsApp and we'll give you a quote.
